Bruce House Centre is based in Holborn, a 10 minute walk from Covent Garden station.
Opened by the London County Council in 1906, the building was in a state of disrepair when Peabody bought and renovated it, and it was then officially opened by The Queen in 1995. Today, the Peabody community centre sits underneath housing managed by Riverside, Look Ahead and Centrepoint – these offer housing and support to the borough’s most vulnerable people.
Bruce House Peabody centre also provides job search support such as; CV writing, skills development, careers advice and volunteering.
The multi-use purpose of the building means people using the centre are a variety of ages and come from a wide range of backgrounds. This makes the centre extremely inclusive and welcoming. Go, make yourself a cup of tea and have a chat in the kitchen.
“Bruce House is an outstanding facility which has been supporting Londoners since 1906. There is a real sense of community amongst those who live and attend Bruce House which we are proud to be a part of.”
Stephen Howlett, Peabody CEO
